There are many different types of massages to choose from when you go to a massage place.

With all these options it is easy to become confused about which one is the right for you.

Although massages can be therapeutic and have great results, most people associate massages with relaxation and feeling good. This is a very important distinction because it is definitely not all types of massages that will relax you or feel great.

Once I made the mistake of choosing Thai-massage…

…That is a mistake I will never make again. I personally have a hard time understanding why the woman on the picture to the right can be smiling haha!

Try These 3 Types Of Massage For Relaxation!

1) Swedish Massage

The Swedish massage is really what most people think about when they think about a relaxing massage.

It is the most common and well-known type of massage. This is even true if you never heard it called “Swedish massage” before since it is more or less synonymous with the word massage and is the standard.

It is called Swedish massage since it originated from Sweden more than 200 years ago.

The Swedish massage is normally done with massage oil or lotion for reducing the friction between hand and skin. It is mostly performed by various massage strokes (effleurage) and muscle kneading and rolling (petrissage) think muscles work like a dough.

A Swedish body massage is the perfect type of massage for anyone who wants a nice relaxing and soothing massage for sore and tired muscles.

The gradual release of tension in the muscles simply feels great and can in some cases almost make you feel ecstatic. In my opinion, it is the most addictive type of massage.

I am personally a big fan of Swedish massage! Especially for my neck and back.

2) Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage is almost the same as Swedish massage. You could call it a Swedish massage with scented oils.

The oils used are extracted from different plants and flowers for both their pleasureful scent and healing properties.

I am myself a bit skeptic about the healing properties, but the oils do add a nice twist to the Swedish massage, and some of the scents feel calming and soothing.

3) Hot Stone Massage

Not surprising this massage is performed together with hot stones. Heated and smooth stones are placed on specific points of your body.

Heated and smooth stones are placed on specific spots of your body. The stones are quite warm, but of course not too warm.

The warmness of the stones heats and relaxes the muscles making quick work any tension.

The masseuse will also use the warm stones to massage you giving a warm and smooth feeling which in my opinion feels pretty good.

People with certain medical conditions might want to think twice about getting this type of massage. Especially people with high blood pressure, issues with the heart or diabetes.
